More than £1,800 has been handed over to our Sandra Chapman Centre after a fundraiser by Hospitality & Catering students at East Coast College, supported by The Imperial Hotel in Great Yarmouth.
On Monday 9th June, the service industries students took over The Imperial Hotel and organised a dinner with entertainment and a raffle to raise funds to support the Centre at the James Paget, which delivers care and support to patients with malignant and non-malignant conditions including blood disorders and cancers.
Zoë Harding, Work Placement Co-ordinator at the College, said; “It was a brilliant time, enjoyed by all, with drinks, live music, laughs, a beautifully made three course meal and the raffle. Our students delivered a great evening and worked incredibly hard, demonstrating professionalism, determination and teamwork. This was a superb team effort and everyone pulled together, playing a crucial part in the evenings success and raising over £1,830.
“Our local cancer care centre The Sandra Chapman Centre are amazing. The support they offer patients and families is always above and beyond, so we decided to give something back and raise money as a thank you for everything they do.”
Zoë and the team, and our charity team, would like to thank everyone who made the evening such as success – the students, East Coast College team members and Grant and Peter from the Imperial Hotel for lending their restaurant and kitchen for the event.
Thanks also go to companies that generously donated prizes for the raffle including; Waterlane Leisure Centre, Marks and Spencer, The Fig Bar & Grill, Jojo's Kitchen & Bar, The Retreat, Southwold, Marina Bay Cafe, Tres Hermanas, Butterfly Hair Salon, Hippodrome Circus, Margo's Lounge, Fritton Lake, Wolfpack Gents Barbers, The Pier Hotel / Pub on the Pier, Elysium Beauty Gorleston, Bee Natural Wax Melts, Pavilion Theatre & Bandstand Gorleston, PJ's Fish and Chip Shop Gorleston, A&D Hair, Pauline Quirke Academy, Coco's Camera, The Hatfield Hotel Lowestoft, Cliff Hotel, The Beauty Lounge and The Hair Company and to Adam Vass from Greene King for supplying the table wine and raffle prizes.
