Endoscopy team secure renewed JAG accreditation

Our Endoscopy team have successfully had their JAG accreditation renewed.

JAG accreditation is awarded to endoscopy services that meet quality standards set out by the Royal College of Physicians’ Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, after an independent assessment.

The accreditation scheme is both patient-centred and workforce-focussed, with accreditation awarded to endoscopy services which have demonstrated they meet best practice quality standards.

To meet these standards, endoscopy units need to demonstrate that they continually improve the quality and safety of the care provided; maintain a strong focus on ensuring patients have a positive experience; provide excellent training and development opportunities for all staff; and uphold a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.

In a letter to Trust Executive Managing Director Jonathan Gardner confirming the accreditation renewal, JAG Accreditation Chair Dr Mark Jarvis said: “We would like to congratulate the team for the high standard of achievement, and for their hard work during the accreditation process.”

Our Endoscopy Unit was first JAG accredited in 2013 and has since been successful in its rolling annual accreditation.

Accreditation is awarded for 5 years, subject to successful completion of an annual review. In the fifth year a full reaccreditation assessment is undertaken to renew accreditation.
