Building work at the James Paget’s newest Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) has now been completed in a project which has seen the creation of brand new facilities inside an existing hospital building.
Services have been operational at the Northgate CDC in Great Yarmouth since 28 April, when the first patients began attending for CT scans.
In August, the centre’s other services, including cardiac and lung diagnostics, came online as new consultation rooms were opened at the former Cranbrook Building on the Northgate Hospital site.
Earlier this month, the last phase of construction was completed with the installation of a new drainage system.
The completion of Northgate CDC means that the James Paget has opened three new diagnostic facilities within the space of just over a year, with the CDC at the James Paget becoming operational in July 2024, followed by the Oulton Suite, also at the main hospital site, at the start of this year.
Together, the facilities provide extra diagnostic capacity, and have been developed with funding from NHS England as part of a commitment to create Community Diagnostic Centres nationwide.
