Pyrography course offers patients and carers new opportunities

Our Louise Hamilton Centre is currently hosting a Pyrography course, giving patients and those who use the Centre an opportunity to learn new skills and make new friends.

Pyrography, or wood burning, is the use of a heated metal tool to burn designs onto natural materials like wood or cork, creating simple or intricate artworks.

The beginners course is being run by Steve Manning from Pyrovision, who provides workshops at a number of local venues, working with organisations such as GY UP (Great Yarmouth Unity Project).

On Friday the group were hard at work on their artworks using templates provided by Steve to create a host of designs, including animal images, sports team logos and superhero motifs.

Some of Steve’s creations are on sale at the Louise Hamilton Centre, with each piece of artwork purchased for £20, £5 will be donated back to towards supportive services at the Centre.

Four people sit in a line at tables. Each one is concentrating on the design in from of them, using the pen like tool to create their image. Nearest the camera is a woman and she can be seen working on a seahorse design.
