Congratulations to Racheal Crane, our Bereavement Maternity support worker, who has won the Archie Bereavement Professional Award at the Mariposa Awards on Saturday 15th March.
Racheal, who lost her little boy Max 9 years ago, has become committed to supporting families and staff through baby loss. She took part in the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHP) Scholarship programme which involved countless hours of research with the project affectionately being named Max’s Legacy. This led to the creation of a monthly baby loss support group for staff and families, as well as the bereavement role that Racheal does now.
Speaking about her win, Racheal said “I still can’t believe it, it’s an absolute honour to be able to support families and knowing that they nominated me means the world. Losing a baby at any gestation is life shattering, but if I can help make it that little bit less rubbish, I will. This is Max’s Legacy.”
Held in the Landmark Hotel in London, The Mariposa Ball, run by Mariposa International and Saying Goodbye Charity, was launched to recognise the incredible work of frontline NHS staff across the UK and people working in bereavement support.
Congratulations to Racheal, and all winners and nominees.
