Ward 11 re-location
Ward 11 has temporarily moved to Ward 7 for approximately 16 weeks from Tuesday 28th January.
As part of ongoing construction support work across the James Paget, vacating Ward 11 will allow essential work in ensuring concrete roof panels remain safe by installing end bearing supports.
Ward 11 is the James Paget’s maternity ward, and is used by people who are pregnant or have recently given birth and are receiving care for them and their baby before they can go home.
The ward will be temporarily located in Ward 7, which is also on the first floor of the main hospital building, accessible at the corner of the east and north corridors.
Ward 7 is also close to the theatres and neonatal unit. The ward has been configured so that women and birthing people continue to share a six bedded hospital bay after birth, but that families with babies in the neonatal unit are cared for in a dedicated transitional care bay.
The ‘Treehouse Room’ for new parents of babies born premature or unwell will not be accessible during this period, but families will be instead accommodated within the neonatal unit.
There are no planned changes to the Antenatal Clinic, Central Delivery Suite, Dolphin Suite, and Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit happening during the period of Ward 11’s relocation. Where it is required, staff in the maternity department will use alternative office spaces during this period.
If you have any questions regarding this move, please speak to your midwife or the maternity experience team on 01493 453476.
