Anna Hills will be stepping down as Chief Executive of James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to take up the position of Chief Executive at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

Anna will take up her new role in 2022 following her notice period.

Anna has been Chief Executive at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for three years, taking on the role as an Interim in December 2018 before becoming the permanent Chief Executive of the Trust in August 2019. She began her career in healthcare at the James Paget in 1992, working as a Clinical Orthoptist.

Anna has also worked at Ipswich and West Suffolk Hospitals and, after five years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, returned to the James Paget in December 2009 where she has held various roles including Director of Governance and Workforce and Deputy Chief Executive.

Anna led the Trust through its most recent CQC inspection, where the hospital continues to be assessed as ‘Good’, and has steered the James Paget compassionately through the COVID-19 pandemic, leading the Trust’s response to unprecedented challenges for health and care services, and representing the hospital at local, regional and national levels.

Anna Davidson, Chair of James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I wish Anna the very best of luck when she takes up her new role next year at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust – this is a great opportunity for her, and we will all miss her very much!

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, Council of Governors, and all staff working at the Trust, I would like to thank her for her tireless commitment to improving services for our patients, and for her leadership throughout her time at the hospital.”

Anna Hills said: “The James Paget will always hold a very special place in my heart, it being my local hospital and full of such compassionate and caring staff.

“It has been an honour and a privilege to be Chief Executive to such an amazing organisation.  I wish everybody well in this next phase for the Trust.”

The Trust will begin recruitment to the Chief Executive position in due course.
