Great Yarmouth Borough Council Deputy Mayor Penny Carpenter visited our hospital yesterday to speak with students and staff about Project SEARCH, a pioneering partnership between East Coast College and the James Paget.
The Project SEARCH programme helps young adults develop the skills and experience needed to move into employment, and sees college students spending five days a week working at the hospital, supporting staff in a variety of departments, while training to do real jobs in a real work environment.
On arrival, the Deputy Mayor was greeted by James Paget Director of Strategic Projects Mark Flynn and our Head of Facilities Management Peter Huttley and she then visited our Stores, Catering and Pharmacy teams to meet students and their mentors and to see first-hand some of the work they do. She thanked staff for their support for the scheme and met more of the students while enjoying light refreshments laid on by our catering team.
