Dementia Action Week: 16-22 May 2022

This week is Dementia Action Week which is the Alzheimer’s Society’s biggest and longest running awareness campaign. This year’s campaign focuses on ‘diagnosis’ with the aim to encourage those who might be living with, or close to someone who might be living with, undiagnosed dementia to recognise symptoms and seek guidance.

Alzheimer's Society research shows that the misconception around memory loss being a sign of normal ageing is the biggest barrier to people seeking a dementia diagnosis. To find out more please visit; https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/about-dementia/symptoms-and-diagnosis/memory-loss-dementia-diagnosis

There will be information and different events taking place throughout the week, with our Dementia Care team raising awareness through stands in the Louise Hamilton Centre and outside our hospital Chapel.

To launch the week we’re sharing the `How to get a dementia diagnosis in the community’ document – please click on the image below to see a larger version of this.

This gives more information about the early signs of dementia, why getting a diagnosis is important and where you can get advice.
