Nursing Support Workers Day

23 November 2023

Nursing Support Workers Day - some of our team stand behind two tables in our Aubergine restaurant. The eight individuals wear different colour uniforms and on the tables in front of them are a selection of cakes and doughnuts

Today, Thursday 23 November, is Nursing Support Workers Day and we're celebrating those who support our nursing team and our patients by providing a range of essential skills and services.

Nursing Support Workers Day is a day to celebrate and recognise the vital contribution of nursing support workers to nursing teams, families, patients and carers across the UK and the James Paget is joining in this year’s celebrations and holding an event in our Aubergine restaurant between 10am and 12noon today.

The term ‘nursing support worker’ encompasses hundreds of different job titles and roles across the NHS including Health care support workers, Assistant practitioners, Nursing associates and Health care assistants - all a vital part of the team in our wards, clinics and departments.

These professionals work independently alongside registered nurses and as part of the wider multidisciplinary teams in health care setting across the country, and play a critical role in delivering high quality care.

You can find out more about the various roles here; https://www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/explore-roles

Please watch our video below to hear from some of our team about the work they do and what it's like to work at the James Paget.
