The James Paget is working with East Coast College, East Norfolk Sixth Form College and other local businesses and organisations in Norfolk and Suffolk on a two-year programme to address recruitment challenges faced within the health and social care sector.
The new programme - The Apollo Project - aims to deliver skills and training to support people to develop their career, allowing upskilling or transition into another role.
The project comes after partnerships in Norfolk & Waveney identified skills shortages in the local labour market, particularly within health and care.
Apollo is a project which specialises in supporting individuals with upskilling, training, and other requirements they may need to secure employment and career opportunities, and the project team are working with local organisations and businesses to offer support.
Part of this includes offering staff and volunteers at our hospital the opportunity to take free courses, such as maths and English up to GCSE level, which could make a difference in their work or future career paths.
Our hospital team recently attended an Apollo Business Breakfast Meeting at the Imperial Hotel in Great Yarmouth to talk with other organisations about the opportunities for working in Health and Social Care.
