Organ Donation Week 2024

19 September 2024

Next week, James Paget University Hospital will be supporting NHS Blood and Transplant’s Organ Donation Week, this year celebrating 30 years of the NHS Organ Donor Register.

The Organ Donation team will be in the main entrance foyer of the James Paget on Wednesday 25th September, where you can speak to the team and find out more about organ donation.

Various local landmarks across Great Yarmouth will also ‘Go Pink’ during Organ Donation Week, from Monday 23 to Sunday 29 September, to raise awareness about the campaign and, if you’re feeling energetic, you can also join a special Gorleston Park Run on Saturday 21 September.

You’re encouraged to dress in pink and join the Gorleston Park runners who will be promoting organ donation, and you’ll also be able to speak to the Organ Donation team, who will be there to answer any questions.

You can read four stories about organ donation via commemorative plaques at our hospital. Three are donor stories and one is about an organ recipient. These can be found along our main entrance corridor, near M&S Food, and outside the main entrance to our Intensive Care Unit on the first floor.

As the NHS Organ Donor Register turns 30, it’s just as important as ever to add your name and decision, because families are more likely to support the decision of someone who has done so. It only takes two minutes, and you could go on to save up to nine lives. Confirm your decision at https://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/
