Physical milestones - What to expect and when

Below are some of the things you might expect your child to be doing at certain ages. It is unlikely that your child will be absolutely on target in all different areas of development. Milestones are used as a rough guide. The most important thing is your child is making steady progress at their own pace.

Always speak to your health visitor about a referral for the following…

An arm, leg or body being more floppy or stiff

Less movement in one arm or leg, or one side of their body

If, when picked up or held upright, their head remains floppy with no control

If they are not lifting arms up against gravity

If they lose physical skills
