Welcome to the Oulton Suite, a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) based at The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We provide diagnostic services for the local population following a referral from community services, such as General Practitioners (GPs).

The Oulton Suite CDC on the James Paget University Hospital site, opened it doors in January 2025, to provide a dedicated diagnostic environment  with the aim of enabling earlier and faster diagnoses. 

The Suite supports a range of planned and pathway‑based diagnostics, with a particular focus on respiratory and cardiac assessment and can be found on the first floor of the Orthopaedic Elective Centre, a new state of the art standalone building on the north side of our hospital site.

Appointments run the same as they would if you attended the hospital but with added benefits of:

·         Shorter waiting times

·         Opportunity for multiple tests on the same day in the same place

·         Overall improved patient experience and outcomes

·         Contribution to NHS net zero ambitions – having multiple tests in one location reduces the number of patient journeys therefore cutting carbon emissions and air pollution

Please note our CDCs are NOT walk-in centres and you must have an appointment to attend.

  • Breathlessness pathways, incorporating:
    • Lung function tests
    • FeNO testing & field tests
    • Spirometry
    • Co monitoring
  • Echocardiography
  • Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
  • Holter monitoring
  • Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) clinics
  • Audiology
  • Children and Young People’s asthma services
  • Liver FibroScan
  • Colon capsule endoscopy

This building is on the James Paget site but is separate to the main hospital and is only accessible from the outside.
