Paediatric Diabetes team picnic in the park

Our Paediatric Diabetes team annual ‘Picnic in the Park’ was a huge success on Tuesday, with more than a dozen families taking in part in the event at Nicholas Everitt Park in Lowestoft.

Despite the weather not being the best, young people and their families came along to the picnic, from 11am to 1pm, which also featured games and activities including football, blowing bubbles and hula hooping.

The event aims to give young people who are under the care of the team the opportunity to meet and get to know each other as well as giving their parents and guardians the chance to talk too. Some were fascinated by the different sensors and insulin pumps which others use, but all had a good time playing and enjoying the picnic.

Paediatrics Diabetes Support Worker Rachael, who was involved with organising the event along with colleagues Gill, Sarah S and Saskia (all pictured), Rose and Sarah R, said; “The staff members joined in with the football – although we were nowhere near as good as our patients. It was a lovely few hours at the park and we always look forward to arranging this once a year.”

The team would like to thank everyone who came along.
