Radiology awarded Green ID certificate

Our Radiology Department has been awarded a Green ID certificate in recognition of their work to understand and reduce the environmental impact of the department.

The certificate is presented by The European Society of Radiology to recognise the implementation of sustainable practices and the James Paget team has been awarded five green leaves out of a possible eight, which is an above-average score.

Fiona Grainger-Crane, a Senior Imaging Assistant in the Radiology team, said; “We recently applied to the European Society of Radiology to attain a Green ID certificate to demonstrate the radiology department’s understanding of our environmental impact and to show the ways in which we are working to reduce this impact. This is a global award with many international organisations aiming to gain certification. We were thrilled to be awarded 5 green leaves out of 8, and we will continue to work towards becoming even more sustainable.”

The certification framework consists of nine key categories including Education and Training, Energy Consumption, Waste Management, Procurement and Consumables, and Travel and Transportation. To achieve certification actions have to be demonstrated across the categories, with points awarded for each. A minimum of ten points is required for basic certification at ‘one leaf’ level, with five leaves representing a significant level of sustainability.
