Events for veterans

A number of local organisations - including the James Paget - host events for veterans.

Below we highlight some of the local meetings and groups that are open to those who have served with branches of our armed forces.

Veterans Coffee Mornings at the Louise Hamilton Centre

The James Paget will be hosting veterans coffee/information mornings throughout 2025.

Each coffee morning event includes tea/coffee and a buffet lunch, plus guest speakers from organisations that support the armed forces.

The coffee and information mornings will take place at the Louise Hamilton Centre, on the James Paget site, between 1100 – 1400 on 26 March, 21 May, 25 June, 17 September and 12 November - all Wednesdays.

Veterans Wellbeing Support Group at the Louise Hamilton Centre

Veterans Wellbeing Support Group meetings are held at the Louise Hamilton Centre, on the James Paget site.

The James Paget and NSFT Veterans Integrated Service will be holding support group events on 2 April, 7 May, 4 June and 2 July in 2025.

All will be held in the Louise Hamilton Centre between 11am and 1pm.

Kitchener's Lowestoft drop in session

Beccles Royal British Legion Branch Community Support

Brew, butty and banter

If you’re a veteran or are still serving in the Armed Forces you’re invited to ‘Brew, Butty & Banter’ which is held on the second Wednesday of the month.

These Royal British Legion sessions are held at Beccles Sea Cadet Unit in Fen Lane between 11.30am and 1.30pm and you can enjoy a bacon butty and have a chat with a friendly branch support volunteer.

Dates for 2025 are 12 March, 9 April, 14 May, 11 June, 9 July, 13 August, 10 September, 8 October, 12 November and 10 December.

Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club Great Yarmouth

Over 150 Facebook members and growing, they meet twice a month. Dates for 2025 are as follows;

First Tuesday of the month from 0900 at Café 63, 2 Main Cross Road, Great Yarmouth, NR30 3PA

Third Saturday of the month from 0930 at Captain Manby, Sidegate Road, Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, NR31 7RW

Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club Beccles

Over 120 Facebook members and growing, they meet once a month.

During 2025 they will meet on the third Saturday of the month from 09:45 at The Club, 2 London Road, Beccles, Suffolk, NR34 9TZ

RAF Benevolent Fund Coffee Club

Did you serve in the RAF or are you a member of the RAF family? This is a free fully accessible event held at 'Club Virage Café & Bar', Ellough Airfield, Brock Road, Beccles, NR34 7PJ

This takes place on the last Wednesday of the month from 11am to 1pm.
