Welcome to the Maternity Assessment Unit (MAU), which is located on Ward 11.
If you are attending the MAU, please enter via the Ward 11 doors, not the Antenatal clinic
The Unit is where you will be asked to attend if you require an Antenatal check-up that cannot be undertaken by your Community Midwife or in Antenatal clinic.
You will be seen by a Midwife initially and, if required, you may been seen by a Doctor. There is also a Support Worker to help on the MAU.
We operate an appointment system to minimise waiting times. If you are unable to attend your appointment please let us know so that we can rebook for another person. Sometimes you will be required to wait for test results, or to make a plan for your care, before going home.
You may be referred by a Midwife for review or a Doctor may ask you to attend MAU for an additional check-up or monitoring following a routine or additional visit.
Possible reasons for attending MAU are:
- Raised Blood Pressure
- Severe itching in pregnancy
- Reduced Fetal movements
- To assess your baby’s size
- To see if your waters have broken
- As a pre-operative clinic before having a caesarean section
Or any other issue which requires additional monitoring.
What are the opening times?
We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
